Menelaus, Paris, Hyppolyta and Penthesalia can be very tricky to play so I would not recommended them for the first play through. I am guessing that Huns or White Huns might be very similar to Massagetae, but am thinking that maybe a settled faction might be easier before going for a horde. I am curious what factions are the best for a new beginner. At that point you don't even need to play the game anymore. I have played a lot of Rome 2: Total War, and really enjoyed using the Massagetae. A bit tricky but when when figured out, you can just sail around and troll people without much consequence.Īgamemnon: he's only easy if you figure out how to do diplomacy, but if you do he can be laughably easy because 70% of the map will be your vassal. Oddyseus: despite being labeled as hard, he actually has a very safe position, excellent for building a tall economy, can reach tier 5 by turn 40. Rich as fuck because you have a gold mine nearby and swim in bronze. Sarpedon: start in a remote area with plenty of room to expand. His start used to be quite hard but then CA patched to make him much easier, he's more accessible now, even for a new player. Good if you prefer a very aggressive melee rush. His roster can be a bit tricky to use though since he relies on human wave tactics which is not conventional for most total war faction.Īchilles: actually have worse economy than Menelaus but you get a lot of powerful unit early, a lot of way to reduce upkeep and the man himself is a dead dealing machine. Daddy Priam provide you with ton of resource if you ask for it, always willing to trade more for cheap and when you inherit his city, you just win.Īeneas: other Trojan faction are your shield and you never have to worry about fighting any strong faction until you are ready for it. Hector: Very straight forward mechanic, solid medium-heavy infantry roster, surrounded by allies (which you should make even more). Think we missed one?
